Can a Trackball Aim? ProtoArc EM01 Tested in Valorant

Video summary

A one-day experiment rather than a full review: the reviewer plays Valorant with the EM01 to see whether a trackball can make him a better aimer. He explains the premise plainly - a trackball uses a ball under the thumb instead of arm movement, which takes strain off the wrist and forearm, but the mouse itself never moves.

Three things made the switch hard. Flick aiming is gone, so headshots depend on thumb control. The ergonomic tilt puts the left and right buttons slightly off centre, so clicks felt uncertain at first. And pointer sensitivity needed lowering before the cursor stopped overshooting.

After practice he reports that he was not as bad as expected, though he is clear that his aim was still poor and that the test says more about adapting to a new input device than about the mouse itself. His conclusion is that it was a fun experiment and that trackballs remain a comfortable option for desk work, which is where most people will use one.
