Adjustment & Unlocking

How do I adjust the seat height?
  1. Rotate the adjustment lever located under the seat, toward the back, to raise or lower the seat height.
  2. To lower the seat: Sit on the chair while operating the lever.
  3. To raise the seat: Stand up from the chair while operating the lever.
How do I adjust the seat recline angle?
  1. Activate the recline function: Pull the adjustment lever on the right side of the seat outward, toward the back, to unlock the backrest and enter free-recline mode.
  2. Lock the angle at 90°, 105°, 120°, or 130°: After pulling the lever out, gently lean back to your preferred angle. Push the lever fully back to its original position to lock the backrest. A “click” sound indicates that it has locked successfully.
  3. Unlock the recline position: Apply gentle backward pressure with your body to release the lock, then pull the lever out again to readjust the recline angle.
  4. Adjust the recline tension: If the recline feels too firm or too loose, rotate the tension control knob to adjust the reclining resistance to your preference.
How do I adjust the armrest height?

Hold the armrest adjustment lever and lift the armrest to the desired height.

How do I unlock and adjust the seat cushion?
  1. Unlock the cushion: Pull the round adjustment lever located at the front of the chair straight upward. Keep it fully lifted during the adjustment.
  2. Adjust the cushion depth: Gently lean back, allowing the mesh elastomer to guide your hips as the cushion moves naturally.
  3. Move the cushion forward: While leaning back, gently push your hips forward.
  4. Move the cushion backward: Relax the pressure from your hips and allow the cushion to slide backward naturally.
How do I adjust the lumbar support?
  1. Height adjustment: Locate the lumbar support panel. Firmly hold both sides of its upper edge and slide it evenly up or down to the desired position.
  2. Support strength adjustment: Locate the adjustment knob and rotate it to control the level of support. Turn it counterclockwise to increase the support strength and clockwise to reduce it.
How do I adjust the headrest?

Headrest Forward and Backward Adjustment

Forward adjustment:

  • Push the headrest forward from its current position until it reaches the desired position or the furthest point.
  • Once released, the headrest will automatically lock in place.

Backward adjustment:

A mid-position anti-rebound lock prevents the headrest from being pushed directly backward. To adjust it backward, follow these steps:

  1. Unlock: Firmly push the headrest forward to its maximum extended position until the locking mechanism is fully released.
  2. Reset: Slowly pull the headrest backward to its initial, rearmost position.
  3. Adjust the position: Push the headrest forward again to the desired position.

Multi-Dimensional Headrest Adjustment

  • Headrest pivot rotation: Adjusts the overall angle to accommodate users of different heights.
  • Headrest rotation: Fine-tunes the neck support area for better cervical curve alignment.

Common Troubleshooting Guide

Why can’t I adjust the seat height?

Possible Causes:

  • The height adjustment lever is not fully engaging with the gas lift control valve.
  • The gas lift may become stuck after supporting weight for a long period of time.
  • The adjustment method may not be performed correctly.

Solutions:

  • Make sure the adjustment lever is fully pressed into position. Try gently moving the lever up and down.
  • To lower the seat height, remain seated on the chair and apply appropriate downward pressure while operating the lever.
  • To raise the seat height, stand up from the chair first, then operate the adjustment lever.
  • If the height still cannot be adjusted, check whether the gas lift is functioning properly.
  • If the issue continues, contact ProtoArc Customer Support for further assistance.
Why can’t the backrest lock at the desired angle?

Possible Causes:

  • The adjustment lever is not fully locked.
  • The backrest has not reached the correct locking position.
  • Pressure on the backrest is preventing the locking mechanism from engaging properly.

Solutions:

  • Adjust the backrest to your desired angle, then fully move the adjustment lever back to the locked position.
  • When locking the backrest, check whether you hear the locking mechanism click into place.
  • If the lever cannot be operated, gently lean back slightly to release pressure inside the mechanism, then try adjusting it again.
  • If the backrest still cannot be locked, contact ProtoArc Customer Support for further troubleshooting.
Why does the chair make noise when reclining, or why is the reclining resistance too tight or too loose?

Possible Causes:

  • The recline tension knob is not adjusted properly.
  • The screws connecting the backrest and base mechanism are loose.
  • Moving parts may create friction after extended use.

Solutions:

Adjust the recline tension knob:

  • Turn the knob clockwise to increase reclining resistance.
  • Turn the knob counterclockwise to decrease reclining resistance.

Check the screws:

  • Check whether the screws connecting the backrest and the base mechanism are loose.
  • If any screws are loose, tighten them securely using the appropriate tool.

Reduce friction:

  • If the noise continues, apply a small amount of suitable lubricant to the moving connection points.

If the issue remains after trying the solutions above, please contact ProtoArc Customer Support and provide relevant details for further assistance.

Base Mechanism Noise Troubleshooting

Why does my chair base or another component make noise?

After a chair has been used for a period of time, noises may occur due to:

  • Metal friction between moving parts.
  • Slightly loose screws or components.
  • Insufficient lubrication in moving mechanisms.

These are common causes of chair noises.

What should I do if my chair makes noises, such as squeaking or clicking sounds?

Check and tighten the screws:

  • Check all screws under the chair, especially the connections between the base mechanism and the seat.
  • If any screws are loose, tighten them and test whether the noise disappears.

Check the base connections:

  • Confirm that the base mechanism, gas lift, and seat connection points are installed correctly.
  • Loose connections may cause noise during use.

Apply lubricant:

  • If the noise comes from moving parts of the base mechanism, apply a small amount of suitable lubricant to the connection points to reduce friction.

Identify the source of the noise:

Test the chair in different situations:

  • Does the noise occur when sitting down or standing up?
  • Does the noise occur when adjusting the seat height?
  • Does the noise occur when reclining or returning the backrest?
  • Does the noise occur when rotating the chair?

Testing these situations can help identify the exact source of the noise.

If the issue cannot be resolved after completing these steps, please provide:

  • Your order number.
  • The chair model.
  • A video showing the noise and the source of the sound.

Our support team will investigate further and provide a suitable solution.

Backrest Stuck or Unable to Return to the Normal Position

Why is the backrest stuck at a certain angle and unable to move?

This usually happens when:

  • The reclining lock mechanism is engaged too tightly.
  • Excessive backward pressure causes the internal gears or locking pins to become firmly engaged.
  • The adjustment lever cannot return to its normal position due to pressure inside the mechanism.
What should I do if the backrest is stuck and cannot be adjusted?

Step 1: Confirm the backrest lock status

  • Check whether the backrest adjustment lever or control handle is in the unlocked position.
  • Move the control lever to the unlocked position if necessary.

Step 2: Apply slight backward pressure

  • While sitting on the chair, gently lean backward to release the internal locking mechanism.
  • At the same time, operate the backrest adjustment control lever.

Step 3: Adjust the backrest angle

  • Keep the control lever in the unlocked position.
  • Slowly move the backrest forward or backward.
  • Once you find the desired angle, release the lever to lock the backrest again.

Step 4: Check for obstructions

  • Check whether any foreign objects are blocking the backrest connection area.
  • Confirm that the adjustment mechanism is moving properly.

If the issue still cannot be resolved, please provide:

  • The chair model.
  • Photos or videos showing the issue.
  • Your order information.

Our support team will assist you with further troubleshooting and provide a suitable solution.
